The National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS) was founded in 1968 to promote and advance aesthetic education, to cultivate the appreciation and study of the decorative and fine arts, and to aid the conservation of our national artistic heritage. In 2017 NADFAS adopted the operating name of The Arts Society.

Since 1994, Bodmin Decorative and Fine Arts Society (BODFAS) has been affiliated to NADFAS. At its AGM in November 2017 BODFAS also voted to adopt the name The Arts Society Bodmin as the name under which it will operate from 1 January 2018.

The Arts Society Bodmin meets in the afternoon of the second Wednesday of the month (excepting July and August). The illustrated lecture is followed by tea and friendly chit-chat during which our members talk to each other about all sorts of things – even including the lecture!  Our Study Days enable members to focus on a topic or theme in greater depth.  We also organize day Visits to historical and cultural venues. This programme gives our members numerous opportunities to catch up with old friends, meet new people and visit new places. You can find out more about all these events in the various sections of our web site.

The Arts Society Bodmin also makes an annual grant which is used to encourage the love and appreciation of the arts by young people in Bodmin and adjoining areas. We are a friendly group with a membership of around 300. We welcome new members, and guests may join us for individual lectures if seating permits.
